Obama to hold healthcare summit

Barack Obama says he will hold more meetings with Democratic and Republican congressmen to discuss ways to move forward on his plans to reform US healthcare.

That meeting will take place later this month. Mr Obama will have to persuade the Senate Republican leader that setting aside the current plans would be the best way to reach a consensus.

Speaking to Katie Couric on CBS News, President Obama also insisted that his healthcare reforms would be an effective way of cutting America's budget deficit.
