Pope in landmark visit to Rome's main synagogue

Pope Benedict XVI has paid homage to more than 1,000 Roman Jews deported to Nazi death camps during a landmark visit to Rome's main synagogue.

The visit has divided Jewish groups because of the Pope's push toward sainthood of wartime pontiff Pius XII, who some critics contend didn't do enough to save Jews during the Holocaust.
