The Big Picture: Gentle Giant

Whale

The town of Hermanus lies along Walker Bay on the south coast of the Western Cape of South Africa and has become one of the world's best locations for whale watching. During the winter and spring months (June to November) Southern Right Whales travel from their Antarctic feeding grounds to mate, calf and nurse their young in the calm and safe waters of the bay.
