Five injured in rally car crash

Five people, including a photographer and two marshals, have been injured as a rally car left a circuit.

The car careered off Abingdon race track, in Oxfordshire, during the Abingdon Motor Sports Carnival.

An 18-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, while two other men, aged 22 and 60, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver and his co-driver were treated for shock and are now helping police with their inquiries.

Officers are investigating the incident, which happened at about 0930 BST, with the Health and Safety Executive and the British Motorsport Association.

The 18-year-old man is from Camberley, Surrey, and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The 22-year-old man is from High Wycombe and was taken to the same hospital.

The 60-year-old man is from Hampshire was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he is described as being "poorly".
