Sandstorms hit northern China

The first sandstorms this year have swept northern China covering homes, streets and cars in brown dust and sand, and leaving the skies a murky yellow.

Many people have had to take to the streets wearing face masks and protective clothing.

Sandstorms usually hit China in March when the weather is dry, but the storms have come three weeks early this year.
