Can do: Food tins become art

An exhibition of sculptures created out of food tins entitled 'Canstruction' has opened in New York.

40 architectural and engineering companies took part in a competition to create designs for the event, which is in its 16th year.

At the end of the exhibition, the cans will be donated to local food banks for distribution to the homeless and elderly.

Organiser Leah Suzann Kaplan says getting good food to people in need is one of her key aims and exhibitor Alberto Quinones says he chooses cans for their colourful labels and nutritious contents.
