Labourers die in India accident

Bihar map

At least 35 farm labourers have been killed in a road accident in northern India, police have said.

The workers died when their truck veered off the road and plunged into a river in Bihar state, police officer SP Shukla said.

The accident happened in the district of Lakhisarai, some 80 miles (130km) south of state capital Patna.

Road accidents kill hundreds of Indians every year. Most are blamed on reckless driving, old vehicles and bad roads.
