Two die in US mine roof collapse

Two miners have died under a collapsed roof at a coal mine in the US state of West Virginia, reports say.

The men were trapped for several hours about 1.5 miles (3km) from the entrance after the roof at Brooks Run mine crashed down at about 1030 (1530 GMT).

The state mine safety chief later told Associated Press the men had died.

There have been other fatalities in West Virginia mines in recent years, including an explosion last January that killed 12 miners.
