'My Bipolar and me'

Andrew had a successful career as a consultant pathologist in the NHS.

He suffers from Bipolar disorder - also known as manic depression - and has been coping with it for almost 30 years.

On camera he describes a recent incident in which he instigated a major cross-country police chase, believing he could out-run his pursuers.

Now in his 50s, Andrew has been sectioned and admitted to hospital several times because of his unusual behaviour when he is 'manic'.

Andrew's story is told in Sectioned, a documentary which follows the experiences of three men who have been detained under the Mental Health Act.

For more information about this documentary, visit BBC Headroom, the BBC's mental health and well-being campaign.

Sectioned will be broadcast on BBC Four on Wednesday 19 May at 9pm, and afterwards on iPlayer .
