The calorie counts used as the foundation for healthy-eating guidance may be too low, a report suggests.

The recommended daily intake of calories could be increased by up to 16%, a draft report by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition said.

BBC reporter Greg Wood spoke to a diner at a shopping centre food market to find out if she would change her eating habits.

Update June 2011: Following a ruling by the BBC's Editorial Complaints Unit, this video has been amended to remove a suggestion that anyone could safely increase their calorific intake rather than just those already sticking to recommended levels. More details can be found here.
