Families struggling with care costs

Charities say families with elderly relatives in residential homes are being driven to breaking point by demands for top up fees.

Help the Aged and Age Concern say local authorities in England - who fund around two-thirds of all care home residents - are underpaying by an average of £60 per person per week, forcing families to pick up the shortfall.

Katharine Carpenter reports.
