Surge of flu cases 'on the way'

Tens of thousands of cases of swine flu could be emerging each week by the autumn, the chief medical officer says.

The Health Secretary, Andy Burnham, told a news conference there was now "sustained community transmission" in Scotland, London and the West Midlands.

The government's chief medical officer Sir Liam Donaldson said tens of thousands of cases of swine flu could be emerging each week by the autumn.
