Dr Clifford Reid, CEO of Complete Genomics in California, says he will be able to sequence 1000 complete genomes between June 2009 and the end of the year.

He tells BBC Medical Correspondent, Fergus Walsh, how advances in nanotechnology, biotechnology and improvements in computer power has enabled a dramatic increase in the speed of gene mapping.
