Medical Futures Innovation awards

A new technique for using stem cells to repair damaged heart muscle, a device for diagnosing bladder cancer and a hand-held machine for testing hearing.

They are all up for this year's Medical Futures Innovation awards which are aimed at getting commercial companies to pick up and market clever ideas dreamt up by doctors and scientists.

Nick Higham met some of the nominees to discuss their innovations in dental imaging and plaque detection.
