Fears raised on smoking drug

Champix has been prescribed to thousands of smokers in the UK as a means of helping them to quit. But several people have reported adverse side effects, including severe depression, prompting questions over its safety.

The manufacturer Pfizer said in a statement there is a warning about reported side effects on the packet and no evidence has been produced to establish a link between the drug and symptons of depression.
