Lewinsky testimony - video extracts



The videotaped testimony by Monica Lewinsky in President Clinton's impeachment trial contained little new in the way of evidence. But it did give an insight into how the former White House worker at the centre of the impeachment saga has coped with the pressures of the past year. Below are extracts from her testimony and that of two other key witnesses, Vernon Jordan and Sidney Blumenthal:
Monica Lewinsky

Monica Lewinsky: "No-one asked or encouraged me to lie but no-one discouraged me either"

Vernon Jordan: "I asked her directly if she had had sexual relationships with the President"

Vernon Jordan talks about a conversation with Monica Lewinsky in which they discussed her relationship with Bill Clinton.

Vernon Jordan: I asked him directly if he had ever had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky and the President said 'No, never.'"

Sidney Blumenthal

Sidney Blumenthal: "I think he was a man in anguish"

Sidney Blumenthal tells of a conversation with Bill Clinton. He quotes the president as saying Monica Lewinsky made advances and he rebuffed her.
