Parish asked to back skate park

Parishioners in St John are asked to back the Skate Park campaign

A Jersey youth group has asked St John's parishioners to support plans for a skateboarding area.

St John Youth and Community Trust said it wanted to develop a skate park at St John's Recreation Centre.

Andrew Lewis, trust chairman, said they wanted to provide the community with long-lasting amenities and were working with young people to develop the site.

Plans due to be shown to residents next week have received the backing of parish constable Graeme Butcher.

Constable Butcher said: "Any further progress will be determined by parishioners.

"If the proposals get the green light, the Trust and the Parish are very keen for the young people of the parish to take ownership of the project and will be charged with the task of making a meaningful contribution to fundraising efforts."
