Severe flood at island hospital

A "severe" flood at Jersey's General Hospital was caused by a burst water main, says the health department.

The incident happened at about 0630 GMT in a ground floor service room.

The main corridor connecting the Parade entrance to the Newgate Street entrance, the special functions room and the dining room were all affected.

Engineering staff, porters, domestic and catering staff helped clear the area of water, and the water main was repaired within an hour.
