About 50 people gathered at the Jersey cenotaph in St Helier on Armistice Day to remember those who died during war. Flag bearers raised their standards to the sound of a lone bugler playing the last post. Cannons were fired to mark the start of a two-minutes silence at 1100 GMT, attended by Constable Simon Crowcroft. Major Nick Spratley, from the Jersey Field Squadron, said: "It's nice that people have taken the time out to pay their respects." He added: "It's important they think of the servicemen and women serving abroad, not just Afghanistan and Iraq, but all over the world."
