Armistice Day marked at cenotaph

Rememberance at cenotpah

About 50 people gathered at the Jersey cenotaph in St Helier on Armistice Day to remember those who died during war.

Flag bearers raised their standards to the sound of a lone bugler playing the last post.

Cannons were fired to mark the start of a two-minutes silence at 1100 GMT, attended by Constable Simon Crowcroft.

Major Nick Spratley, from the Jersey Field Squadron, said: "It's nice that people have taken the time out to pay their respects."

He added: "It's important they think of the servicemen and women serving abroad, not just Afghanistan and Iraq, but all over the world."
