Officers said of further concern was a suspected drink driver caught by a routine stop check and a young man who was found driving without insurance. He added: "Police and other emergency services responded to several traffic incidents that could have been averted. "As it is starting to get dark earlier and the wet weather is causing slippery road conditions we would ask all road users to pay greater attention. "We would ask drivers to allow cyclists and pedestrians sufficient room." Two of the crashes involved cyclists being knocked off their bikes, while two others involved motorcycles. A pedestrian crossing the road had to be taken to hospital for treatment following an incident in Beresford Street, St Helier. Mr Blake said: "The message remains slow down and leave plenty of time to make the journey in safety."
