Senator arrest warrant is issued

Stuart Syvret
Senator Syvret failed to turn up to court in Jersey

Jersey politician Senator Stuart Syvret will be arrested next time he sets foot in the island.

A warrant for his arrest, without the previous £100 bail option, was issued when he again failed to appear at a court hearing in Jersey on Monday.

The senator is accused of breaching the Data Protection Law and of committing two motoring offences.

He is claiming he cannot have a fair trial in Jersey and is seeking legal asylum in the UK.

Senator Syvret has criticised the legal system and called for an abuse of justice process hearing over the way his initial arrest was handled.

He last appeared in court in October before leaving for London.
