'Low morale' in health department

Deputy Anne Pryke
Health Minister Anne Pryke said it is time to put reviews into action

Staff morale is low in Jersey's Health and Social Services department following multiple reviews into how it is run, according to the minister.

Deputy Anne Pryke said: "It has been a service that has been drifting because of all these reports and comments."

A proposal to hold a local committee of inquiry into the department was rejected by politicians this week.

But the Scottish Social Work Inspection Agency has been appointed to look at how the service can be improved.

Deputy Pryke said: "It will look at the service and set a plan."

"We have had many reviews and reports and now its time to put all that in action, and that's what I'm determined to do for 2010."
