A 69-year-old man has been jailed at the Royal Court in Jersey for 15 years for child abuse and rape.

Claude James Donnelly, of St Brelade, was found guilty at two trials.

In June, Donnelly was found guilty of 10 counts of indecent assault, four counts of rape and procuring an act of gross indecency in the 1960s and 1970s.

At an earlier trial in May, he was also found guilty of three counts of indecent assault and one of rape on a teenage girl in the early 1980s.

Donnelly was described by police as a "ruthless, predatory paedophile".

Neither trial was linked to the ongoing investigation at the former Haut de la Garenne children's home.
