Holiday lets could help heritage

The Maritime Museum is one of the sites which could close

Self-catering holidays could be the key to saving Jersey's Hamptonne Country Life museum.

Jersey Heritage has warned it may be forced to close some of its museums because it is suffering from a severe funding deficit.

But Heritage spokesman Jon Carter said offering tourist accommodation at Hamptonne could help raise money.

The trust is in negotiations with Jersey States' Education, Sport and Culture department for funding.

Jersey Heritage promotes the island's history and manages seven historic properties.
