Jersey swine flu total reaches 38

Fourteen cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Jersey since last week, bringing the number of cases up to 38.

Meanwhile, the island is likely to be hardest hit by the virus in September and October, according to predictions by the Health Department.

Health Minister Anne Pryke said her department's objective was to contain the virus until a vaccine to treat it arrives in the autumn.

She said experts were confident they could control the spread until then.

Islanders seeking advice about swine flu can call a helpline on 01534 445566 which is open from 0830 to 1730 BST, Monday to Friday.
