Oyster compensation may be sought

Jersey oyster farmers are considering seeking compensation from the States, claiming a deterioration in seawater quality has affected their shellfish.

They allege the States is responsible for discharging sewage into the sea, which they claim has polluted it.

Chris Le Masurier, from Jersey Oyster Company, says he and four other firms may seek individual claims or team up to seek compensation from the States.

However, the States claims there is nothing wrong with the sewage system.
