Income support to be scrutinised

The effectiveness of Jersey's year-old income support system is to be reviewed by a new States panel.

The group, chaired by Deputy Geoff Southern, will be asking for evidence about how well people in need are being helped.

It is particularly interested in the administration of money to support islanders with their medical bills.

The income support scheme, which replaced the parish welfare system, was introduced in January 2008.
