The constable of St Helier is appealing for a decision to be made on the long-term future of the old La Pouquelaye School in the parish.
The former school at La Pouquelaye is now a youth and community centre which is run by the parish.
However, since 2005, the parish has had no kind of permanent contract or long-term security in using the site.
Now Constable Simon Crowcroft wants the States to approve the sale or lease of the former school to the parish.
Sharing 'unworkable'
The States has previously discussed leasing the building on a 21-year lease for an annual sum of £25,000.
However, the former treasury minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur, recently made a decision to offer the site to Centre Point, which helps support families through difficult times.
The parish decided it would be unworkable to share the space with the charity.
Now Constable Crowcroft wants the States to agree that the site can continue to be used by youth groups, toddler classes and community clubs - under control of the parish.
