Youth service praised in report

Jersey's principal youth officer has welcomed the positive comments her service received in a report.

The Howard League for Penal Reform criticised Jersey's youth court system and custodial provision for children, but praised Jersey's Youth Service.

Shirley Costigan said the Jersey Youth Service was working to divert young people away from trouble.

The report was unconnected to an investigation into alleged child sexual abuse in Jersey.
