People who die in Jersey may in future have healthy organs removed for donor transplants unless they specifically sign a form refusing consent.
The opt-out policy, which is run in a number of European countries, is a system being considered by Jersey's Health Minister, Senator Ben Shenton.
The island currently operates a scheme where organs are only removed if a patient carries an organ donor card.
Senator Shenton said the scheme would be instigated if it helped save lives.
