Minister angry over school lease

A decision to lease a school to a charity which looks after children is being challenged by Jersey's Health and Social Services department.

Jersey's Treasury has leased La Pouquelaye School for 21 years to the Centrepoint Trust, which helps support families through difficult times.

But the move has angered assistant Health and Social Services minister, Senator James Perchard.

He says his department, which had other plans for the site, was not consulted.

Jersey's Treasury has leased the school to the trust for £10 a year.

But Mr Perchard said Family Nursing and Home Care had already expressed their interest in using the site.
