Fears over impact of incinerator

Environmentalists are calling for research into the impact of Jersey's planned new incinerator on wildlife.

The Marine Biology section of the Societe Jersiaise is worried about the outfall coming from the chimney out to sea at La Collette.

It fears that pollution could build up in fish and then be potentially harmful to humans.

Supporters of the incinerator said it would improve air quality and generate electricity for about 8,000 homes.
