Award for fighting child obesity

A project to help children beat obesity has been given an award in the UK.

Sixty-five Jersey children between six and 14 were chosen to take part in the free scheme.

The joint programme was run by Health and Social Services, Education Sport and Culture and the University of Southampton.

The scheme, which taught children everything from healthy cooking to dealing with bullies, was awarded £1,000 at the National Obesity Forum.
