Key armed forces supporter dies

Owen Wiscombe died from cancer on Sunday

Owen Wiscombe, who helped former and serving military personnel in the Channel Islands with pensions and other welfare payments, has died.

Mr Wiscombe, who came to Jersey as an assistant prison governor, was well known for organising Liberation Day and Remembrance Sunday Parades.

He was also President of the Band of the Island of Jersey.

Mr Wiscombe, who died from cancer on Sunday, received an MBE two years ago for services to the community.
