Island phone book goes on the web

Phone directory
The online directory has exactly the same information as the printed one

Jersey Telecom has set up a phone directory on the internet.

The new web-based service has been designed to look almost identical to the company's traditional phone book.

Customers will see the front cover of the phone book when they log on. Pages of the directory can then be turned by clicking and dragging.

Names, numbers and addresses can either be found by using a "quick search" tool or by browsing through the pages in the traditional manner.

David Viera, the head of marketing at Jersey Telecom, said the content of the digital directory was exactly the same as the printed version.

It is hoped the new environmentally-friendly site will eventually help to save paper.
