Rubble dumping stopped at beach

Workman have stopped dumping rubble on a Jersey beach after complaints the work breached a planning permit.

Retrospective permission was given to shore up Le Chemin des Creux, a private road that was falling into St Brelade's Bay.

Deputy Sean Power said permission was granted on the understanding that gamians, wire blocks or baskets filled with rocks, would be used.

A planning panel will meet on Thursday to discuss the matter.

Assistant Planning and Environment Minister Anne Pryke said she was alerted to the problem of dumped debris by a member of the public.

She said a full investigation is being carried out by the department, enforcement officers and the developer.
