Teenage party closed down early

A party held in Jersey at the weekend had to be closed down early because there were concerns about the number of under-age drinkers present.

More than 150 teenagers, aged between 15 and 16, turned up to the party at the La Braye slipway in St Brelade on Saturday evening.

Concerned residents called the local authorities and three honorary police officers were called to the scene.

Two teenagers were sent to hospital to have their stomachs pumped.

The St Brelade duty centennier, John Traford, said that a third teenager needed to be sent to hospital, but the ambulance crew were unable to take him because they were already stretched to capacity.

He added: "I'm very concerned that the under age drinkers tied up so much of the police and paramedics' time.

"We're seriously considering whether in the future to press charges against those causing such disturbances."
