Deposits scheme hope for tenants

Tenants in Jersey could receive help getting deposits back from private landlords if a legally binding scheme gets the go-ahead.

The Citizens Advice Bureau is calling on the government to set up a scheme that would help eradicate rent deposits being withheld by landlords and agents.

However the housing committee wants more information before setting up a deposits scheme.

It is asking islanders for their views and the consultation closes on Tuesday.
