Officials say the GST rate will stay at 3% for at least three years

People in Jersey have begun paying an extra 3% on many items bought, including food and clothing.
The new Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been introduced because the government will be receiving less tax from the finance industry.
The island is introducing a zero-rate corporation tax to keep it competitive.
Officials said the new GST was much lower than the equivalent tax in many other countries, and that it would stay at 3% for at least three years.
Critics of the new tax are calling for food, children's clothes and school books to be exempt.
