Island Home wins anthem contest

Jersey flag
Jersey's anthem was chosen for a shortlist of five songs

A new anthem for Jersey has been chosen at a concert in the Opera House.

Island Home, composed by Gerard Le Feuvre, was selected from five shortlisted songs by five judges and an audience vote.

The composer said his musical inspiration was rooted in Jerrais poetry and traditional folk music.

The winning anthem was announced by the island's Bailiff, Sir Phillip Bailhache, who said it had won by a "clear majority".

A Jersaise version of the anthem will also be made available shortly.
