States agrees rear seatbelt law
Politicians in Jersey have agreed to make it compulsory for everyone sitting in the back of a car to wear a seatbelt.

During the debate many members argued the move was common sense, but one said evidence existed that wearing one increased the risk of death or injury.

The move means the island will have the same seatbelt laws as the UK.

It is currently already a legal requirement to wear a seatbelt in the front of a car in the island.
