Prison to remove bars from cells
La Moye prison in Jersey is removing bars from its windows to stop inmates committing suicide.

The move is among measures to make cells safer following two deaths at La Moye in the last two years.

Furniture in cells will also be changed to make it more difficult for prisoners to take their own lives.

The cost of the new anti-ligature cells will be 400,000 which is being diverted from other projects at the prison.
