Jersey Police say eight people have already called helplines set up as part of an investigation of sexual abuse allegations dating back to the 1960s.
The investigation is currently focusing on Haute de la Garenne Care home and the Jersey Sea Cadets.
Seven people have called the Historic Abuse Team and one person contacted the NSPCC. Both men and women have called the helplines.
The allegations of physical and sexual abuse span a 45-year period.

The States of Jersey and the management of the Sea Cadets are co-operating fully with the inquiry.
Investigators already have the names of a number of victims and witnesses, some of whom have already spoken to officers.
Over the coming weeks the team will be contacting the remaining names on the list and are asking anyone else with information to contact the Historical Abuse Enquiry Team.

A police spokesperson said: "It is realised that this process may re-open old wounds in victims and witnesses alike.
"The police are working in partnership with the NSPCC in the UK to provide a confidential counselling service for those concerned who would like such assistance."
