Island police set up abuse probe
Jersey Police have confirmed they have set up a special team to investigate allegations of sexual abuse of children dating back to the 1960s.

The investigation is currently focusing on Haute de la Garenne Care home and the Jersey Sea Cadets.

Both the States of Jersey and the management of the Sea Cadets are co-operating fully with the inquiry.

The allegations of physical and sexual abuse span a 40-year period dating from the 1960s.

Over the coming weeks the team will be contacting the remaining names on the list and are asking anyone with information to contact the Historical Abuse Enquiry Team.

"The police are working in partnership with the NSPCC in the UK to provide a confidential counselling service for those concerned who would like such assistance."
