The Parade has been closed in both directions, York Street, Charing Cross, Seale Street and Union Street have also been shut.

Organisers of this year's Poppy Appeal believe more than £100,000 has been raised to help look after ex-service men and women.

There are about 5,000 former members pf the Armed Forces in the island.

Islanders who were interned at Biberach or Bad Wurzach during the Nazi Occupation of Jersey are also laying memorial wreaths in Howard Davis Park.
