States promotes new services tax
Jersey States has launched a booklet promoting the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which is due to start next year.

The introduction of the 3% tax has been criticised by some politicians and retail groups.

Some claim other ideas have not been thought through and there is concern it could damage the island's economy.

The States says the current tax system needs updating to attract business to Jersey and reduce the island's dependence on income tax.

The move comes as a protest is due to go ahead in St Helier on Saturday.
