Jobs cut as island firm downsizes
A Channel Island firm is cutting jobs after a decision to downsize.

Three positions are being axed at the Jersey branch of Channel Rentals and another two from its operations in Guernsey.

The firm's parent company CI Traders was taken over by private equity group Sandpiper Bidco earlier this month.

Channel Rentals managing director Paul Luxon said the job cuts were not linked to the takeover and a review of operations had been ongoing.

All the staff involved are in talks to see if they can be re-employed within the organisation.

Channel Island Traders, one of the largest employers in Guernsey, was sold to Sandpiper Bidco for £260m.

The group includes supermarkets, pubs, hotels and property development in both Guernsey and Jersey.
