Turbine teaching tool for school
A Jersey school is to put up a wind turbine to help generate some of its own electricity and teach students about the technology.

De La Salle College received money from the Ecology Fund to buy the turbine.

Head of the department of design and technology, Guy Parslow, said it would be installed near the playground and should not affect neighbours.

He said the school could look into using more wind energy on a long-term basis if the experiment was a success.

Students in science, design and technology, and geography will all have access to the wind turbine.
