Fag end litter doubles on streets
Cigarette litter in St Helier has doubled since Jersey's smoking ban came into force, according to the States cleaning department.

Jersey introduced a ban on smoking in public places at the start of this year, although it has no specific law against cigarette litter.

Jersey's Health Promotion Department is considering ways to stop the problem.

The Department said even outside bars where ashtrays are provided, smokers do not use them.

A smoking ban in force across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be introduced in England on 1 July.
