A 19-year-old hairdresser has been found guilty of attempting to smuggle cannabis resin with a street value of £48,000 from a French port to Jersey.
Kirsty Mullan admitted being recruited as a drug mule by three men who said she would be paid £1,500.
A Court in St Malo heard how Mullan travelled to France with two of the men and met a third in a hotel room who had bought the drugs in Paris.
Mullan was sentenced to four months in prison and fined 5,300 euros.
BMW Seizure
She was arrested on 6 January when she attempted to pass through French customs at St Malo.
A search by officials found she was carrying 8 kg (18lbs) of cannabis resin in her backpack. The judge found her guilty of possession, transporting and buying the drugs.
She will be released this weekend in recognition of the time she has already served in prison on remand.
Three other Jersey residents were also convicted.
Fabio Rafael Gomez, 20, was jailed for six months and fined 5,300 euros, Fabio Ferreira, 25, was jailed for ten months and fined 20,000 euros and 25-year-old Felipe Gonclaves, a French resident, was jailed for a year and fined 20,000 euros.
The Court ordered the seizure of a BMW car which was found to contain heroin and 1,700 euros, and the destruction of the cannabis.
